The "Bonneterie" (knitwear and hosiery) service at our site in the Swiss municipality of Daillens provides the textile industry with a tried and tested, and yet ultra-modern logistics solution.
Before feathers can make fine birds, the birds need the feathers. For around twenty years, Gondrand's compact express service for knitwear and hosiery has ensured all kinds of clothes and accessories such as bags and belts from Paris reach their destination in the west of Switzerland. And, of course, this allows us to keep up with the latest fashion. Originally, this service, which was launched soon after the end of the Second World War, was rail-based. Nowadays, a road shuttle runs every evening from Paris via Vallorbe on the Swiss-French border to Daillens, which lies 13 km north west of Lausanne. In the late morning of the following day, the packages – which have already been order-picked – are loaded into articulated lorries, so that delivery of the goods to various clothes shops throughout western Switzerland may get underway promptly in the afternoon.
Tailored logistics solutions
Gondrand itself employs a total of 15 experienced employees as part of its knitwear and hosiery service. Six specialists in Paris in addition to nine in Daillens and Vallorbe draw on their considerable expertise and many years of experience in order to provide logistics solutions that are tailored in every sense. Although the order situation in the fashion sector is highly seasonal, the knitwear and hosiery service of Gondrand is enjoying continued popularity among its many longstanding clients, but also among newly acquired customers too.
